A software development endeavor indeed is a business process and why not BPMN?
The standard that we are leveraging is UML, specifically UML business modeling extensions. We choose that, because the legacy of RMC has always been in the UML business modeling activity diagram space. That was the notation suite we chose. One of the benefits with the UML business modeling approach is that the robust stereotyping mechanism allows us to distil a very large amount of knowledge in a very finite space which you can appreciate in a system like this is at a premium so that the iconic nature was attractive to us. I look forward to discussing this more to see if there is another notation and being able to switch into that add value.
