Overall what tends to be the biggest challenge area for large scale agile adoption?
The biggest challenge with any change is about change management because it’s a cultural change for the organization. I feel the biggest challenge is getting people’s hearts and minds; it’s the people. Getting people to feel this is something they want to be part of and recognize that this change is not scary, it’s actually something that is really going to benefit them. Transparency can be scary as well; they have got over the fear of getting involved and understand this is something that will benefit them, particularly if they have seen other people being successful they are going to want to follow that success. Right when people start the change and see the level of transparency that can be a real challenge and having people being able to recognize sharing what they do, as they do it, can actually be a real benefit for them, can be real difficult. As I have said before, it’s the people, which is why I focus on giving people everything they can possibly get so they can feel they can do this. The education, network, community, support from a personal perspective and technical documented perspective. Having just these support networks around them make them feel this is the right decision for them. One of the best aids are case studies, if people see it working they will want to follow.
