Australia - Melbourne Rational User Group

The Melbourne IBM Rational User Group (MIRUG) exists to foster a fun, social, community of Rational-brand products and services users, who will be willing to share their knowledge and experiences with other group members.

Our predominant focus is:

• To provide a relaxed networking environment, predominantly for Victoria-area users to regularly socialise.
• To help group members to find support and assistance where they need it.
• To provide a forum for the presentation of user-experience stories.
• To encourage IBM to maintain and improve the Rational brand products and services.
• To encourage group members to increase their subject-matter and skill expertise.

Although we regard these aspects as our primary focus, the User Group will also serve as a forum for:

• Interaction and collaboration with other users nationally and internationally, particularly throughout the APAC region: Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
• Demonstration of new and existing Rational brand products and services.
• Discussion of member-developed methods and tools that relate to the Rational brand.
• Seminars conducted by Rational and Third-Party Vendors that relate to the Rational brand.


I. Primary Objectives:

• Create a local community of Rational products & services subject matter experts that will be willing to share knowledge and experiences with all chapter members. Our expectation is that will translate into accelerated learning opportunities and on-the-job tangible benefits for all participating members.
• Create a local area network of Rational product & services users that can interface, grow and learn from other Rational User Groups, on both a national and international basis.
• Have fun and meet people!

II. Purpose:
Education of Local Users, Partners and Third-Party Developers. This Rational User Group shall be a place for people using Rational products to gain and share information to discover solutions to problems related to software development process, people and tools.

The User Group will also serve as a forum for:
1. Demonstration of new and existing Rational products and services.
2. Discussion of member developed applications.
3. Seminars conducted by Rational and Third Party Vendors.
