The Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) process decision framework is a hybrid which adopts proven strategies from Scrum, XP, Agile Modeling, Outside In Development, Lean/Kanban, DevOps, and others in a disciplined manner. DAD provides goal-driven, tailorable advice for the full solution delivery lifecycle that goes beyond the software-construction focus of other agile methods.

Because delivery teams do not work in a vacuum DAD is enterprise aware, showing how agile teams can leverage and enhance their existing IT ecosystem in a governable manner. DAD is at the forefront of the new generation of agile/lean methods for the enterprise.

Agile is proven in the IT domain and is enjoying rapid adoption in the product and embedded systems space. But being successful with agile in this domain presents different challenges such as integrating teams, large-scale complexity and communicating the benefits to management. There are some agile practices which can be leveraged to address these concerns. Continuous integration and test driven development can help with finding defects early and getting to done with the right solution quicker. To build management engagement, an additional step needed is to map typical agile metrics to measures that are actionable for management. The final webcast in this series focused on process and project configuration, exploring the flexibility and capabilities for customizing Rational Team Concert (RTC). The integration with Rational Method Composer (RMC) was demonstrated. Additionally, custom process templates for Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) were shown to explore how Team Concert can scale Agile & Lean concepts from the project, to the program and portfolio level.

Bing Xu, Development Lead for Rational Method Composer, joined Carson Holmes on this webcast to demonstrate the integration capabilities between RTC and RMC. This was a two-hour finale of a three part Webcast Series.

What is the level of quality and does it take a team days, weeks, maybe months to get a working system? Does it turn out that unit tests are superficial or insufficient? Real continuous integration requires early and ongoing complex integration testing. Organizations often skip that testing on nightly builds because of setup complexity and the lack of availability of third-party resources. By virtualizing stable components of a complex system, organizations streamline setup to execute integration testing on every team integration build.

Most recently he was a ClearCase architect and the component lead responsible for CCRC and the ClearTeam Explorer. He has been working professionally in the software industry for over 30 years, working primarily in new product development, user interface architecture, engineering and design with a focus on workflow, activity management, software configuration management and software process tools.
